HAWKE’S BAY PRESBYTERY.
The Presbytery of Hawke’s Bsy met on Thursday in St. Paul’s schoolroom. The Kev. W. J. Comrie, Moderator, presided. The following were appointed delegates to the General Assembly, to meet in Wellington on November llth: Esvs. Asher, Comrie, Connor, Grant, Stosell.Whyte.a* d Dr. Bidey, ministers, and Meisrs Craig, Gardener, Graham, Bansom, Campbell, and Avans, elders. Kev. Mr Grant reported that the Church Extension Committee were about to send Mr Hill, reeently arrived from Glasgow, to supply the vacant charge of Woodville, and that the appointment was likely to be a happy one. It was agreed to sustain the discourse of Mr E. Gardner, missionary, and to recommend the Assembly to consider favorably the granting of a license to Mr Gardner. The following reeolntion was adopted: —“The Piesbytsry regards with satisfaction the movement for the introdnation of Bible reading into the pnblio schools, recommends ministers to preach on the subject on the 26th instant, and, should a plebiscite be taken in any district in the presbytery, assures the promoters of such action of all interest and support.” Eev. Mr Whyte gave in a report from' the Committee on Welfare of Youth. Bav. Mr Comrie reported that the Hastings managers had purchased a 4-acre section at a cost of £l3O. A grant of .£lO was voted towards the cost from the Anderson Bequest. The following rale was adopted “ That grants from the Anderson Bequest be made in favor of snob properties only as are duly vested in the Church Property Board.” It was agreed that £1 be given in aid to every congregation circulating the Monthly Visitor during 1903.
