The ladies who lately promoted the very successful dance in aid of the band have eaoh received a very pretty and artistio oard, as a " souvenir," in which is given the status of eaoh member and the following sentence:— "This oard iB presented to Miss ,by the members of the Waipawa Brass Band Sooiety, with their sincerest thanks, and as a token ol appreciation and recognition of past services rendered to the sooiety." The memorial servioe held in St. Peter's Oluroh last Sunday evening, in memory of the late Trooper W. Scott, was orowded, many persons being unable to obtain seats in the building. Forty- six volunteers, under the command of Captain H. M. Bathbone, were present. The hymns and organ inusio were suitable to tho occasion, "Vital Sparif " being played as an offertorium, and the " Dead March" as a recessional, the immense congregation atanding as a token of sympathy with the relatlyes. An impressive sermon from Rev. Il.ohapter, and lQth verse, waß preached by the vicar, the Rev. W. Swinpurn Previous to the hour of service the volunteer Band played, most sympathetically, the "Dead Maroh,"and after the service, before dismissing, some lively airs.
