LOSS OF A LAUNCH.

[by teleobaph.] Auckland, Thursday, The schooner Greyhound arrived at Bussell to-day from Auokland. When off Whananaki at 5 this morning the oil launch Speedwell, whioh Bhe was towing, broke away, and was not seen after. She would probably Bink before reaching the shore, owing to the tremendous sea running. It was blowing a strong easterly gale with heavy rain, The launch Speedwell was employed prior to the construction of the Advanoe in the trade between Auokland and Albany. She was owned by Mr Stephenson, of Albany, and was built by Messrs Logan, being fitted with the century oil engine.
