fBT TEIiEGRAPH.J Christohurch, Thursday. j Superintendent Smith, of the Christ- f ohurch Fire Brigade, who is one of the New Zealand representatives at the world's conference of Are brigades at Paris, was entertained to-night, prior to his departure for Europe by the members of the brigade. Mr H. G. Ell, one of the members for Christohuroh, was entertained by his supporters to-night. In the course of his speech Mr Ell said that although he sympathised with the Premier in his illness, and trusted he would soon be restored to I health, there were so many important questions to come before Parliament that this was no time to talk of a shore session.
