MR REID'S DEFENCE.
' Becoivod June 14, 10,30 p.m. Sydney, Thursday. Mr Reid's speech in the Assembly in defence of his finance lasted four hours. He condemned the promotion of certain Volunteer officers, including the Minister for Justice, and referred to the plague suppression expenditure as tho most awful record of incompetence and extravagance the world had ever soon. Uoceivod Juno 14, 10.45 p.m. In the Assembly Mr Eeid gave notice of motion for Thursday censuring the Government for alleged mismanagement in connection with the outbreak of plague, and that lack of system in dealing with the matter led to gross waßte o£ public money. Sir W. Lyna resumed the debate on the address-in-reply, and is replying to Mr Eeid.
