GOVERNMENT THEFT OF NEWSPAPER CABLES. PRACTICE STOPPED IN SYDNEY. Beceived June 14, 12.30 a.m. Sydney, Wednesday. In the Assembly, in reply to questions whether 1 the custom of the Post-office to distribute through the telephone cables paid for by newspapers alone ; if it was right that they should be stolen ; and if the Government would obtain independent cables to publish them in the Govment Gazette, Sir W. Lyne said that such distribution was highly improper. He thought that the practice had been stopped. He was quite willing that an independent service should be established if the House was agreeable, but they should be published in every paper in the country.
