MR REID'S FINANCE.

Received Juue IS, 10.30 p.m. Sydkby, Wednesday. Mr M'Coutfc, Chairman, of Committees, has been unanimously chosen Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Mr Triokett has been elected Chairman of Committees of the Legislative Council. The Finance Committee's report condemns Mr Eeid's ißsue of Treasury bills of over a million covering liabilities of previous years and representing the ascertained denoiency at June^3oth, 1895, as unnecessary and misleading, as thereby the subsequent real condition of the finances was not made apparent, Mr Koid informed the House that when he found that he could not go before the Finance Committee owing to the manner in which it was constituted with the view of having justice done, and to show that he was not afraid of an inquiry, he arranged for a committee of three well-known accountants to make an investigation of the disputed accounts, paying the expenses out of his own pocket.
