LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
Friday, September 1. The Counoil met at 2.30. FINAL STAGES. The Heathcote Road District Sanitation Bill, Companies Act, 1832, Amendment Bill, and Lunatics' Act Amendment Bill passed their final stages. NATIVE TOWNSHIPS. The Native Townships Bill was read a second time. ASSETS REALISATION BOARD. The adjourned debate was resumed on the Hon. B. O. J. Stevens' motion to set up a committee to inquire and report whether a more speedy realisation of the remaining assets under the control of the Realisation Board can be secured, and to what extent the remaining lands may be utilised as land for settlement. After discussion the motion was negatived by 18 to 17. COMPANIES BIIiL. The Hon. J. M'Gregor's Companies Bill passed through committee. The Council rose at 4.40.
