I [per united press association.] Auckland, Tuesday. H.M.S. Royalist arrived from Napier, and is engaged in taking in a supply of coal and water preparatory to leaving for Samoa. Te Heuheu now consents to allow the Government geologist to inspect the locality at Taupo where gold has been found. Mr M'Kay is expected back at Rotorua en route to Taupo. At a meeting of the Sir George Grey memorial committee there was a full attendance. The honorary secretary, Mr W. T. Jennings, reported that since last meeting he had seen Eawhite, the Maori King's private secretary, who stated that the matter of subscriptions to the memorial would be discussed at a meeting of King Country Maoris at an early date, and the Maoris were entering heartily into the matter.
