EGYPT.

AN ANGLICAN BISHOPRIC. Eeceived January 20, 9.10 a.m. London, January 19. Funds are being raised in London for 1 the establishment of an Anglican Bishopi io in Egypt, to act in co-operation with the Coptic Bishop of Khartoum. THE GORDON COLLEGE. London, December 17. Lord Kitchener's Gordon Memorial College scheme will not go through without a protest which, however, will bo utterly vain, as the money has been already subscribed. As is well known Lord Kitchener absolutely refused all entreaties to make the school a Christian institution, saying that if the college was to be of any practical value it must be not only non-Christian, but actually Mussulman in constitution and teaching. General Gordon's sister is now reported to be about to make a public protest against any institution from which the Bible is excluded purporting to perpetuate the memory of her illustrious brother, who, above all things, was an ardeuL Christian. She muy be dissuaded from making a futile protest. Thare is indubitably a considerable number who are unable to see the absolute necessity for Lord Kitchener's resolve. When the Guardian, the best known and weightiest church organ, expressed its agreement with Lord Kitchener's views, even advocating the ceaching of the Moslem religion, it raised a considerable storm among a portion of its readers.
