[bt telegraph.] Wellington, Friday. There was a .good attendance at the wool sales held to-day. Owing to the delay in shearing only 3200 bales were . offered. Ridding was irregular, but competition brisk. Prices as a rule wefe an, advance on those obtained at the December sales, the improvement in the prioe being most noticeable in the case of fine wool, which realised about Id per 1b more than last month. Looks and pieces also realised better prices than was the case in December, The top price' during the ' sale was S$ d, which was obtained by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company for some half-bred wool sent from the west coast of the South Island, and sold to the representative of an English house.
