AFFAIRS QUIETING DOWN. Eoceived January 19, 9.40 a.m. London, January 18. Affairs in connection with South Africa fire attracting considerable attention in Britain. There have been recently fre. quent interviews between the Hon. J. Chamberlain, Mr Cecil Rhodes, and Sir Alfred Milner, and these hare caused much comment. , Cape Town, January 18.

A quieter feeling now prevails in Johannesburg, where the recent Boer outrages resulted in considerable excitement among the Uitlanders. It is reported that no serious injuries resulted during the disturbances, but the Boer police and other officials ate accused of displaying partisanship while the emeute was in progress.
