CONTRACTS LET.

Beceived January 15, 5 p.m. London, January 14. Contracts have boon let with the various British shipbuilding companies for the construction of now British battleships. It is supposed that these contracts arc being let in anticipation of Parliamentary authority for the building of the vessels. Messrs Laird iirothors, Birkenhead, and the Palmer Company, at Barrow, have each contracted with the British Admiralty for the construction of a battleship. The Times states the Clyde Bank and Shipbuilding Companies have contracted for two more battleships. The -Vicbers Company, of Barrow, have contracted for a second gigantic cruiser provided for in Mr Goschen'a naval scheme.
