Waihora arrived alongside the breakwater at 10 a.m. yesterday from Southern ports and landed her passengers and about 50 tons general cargo. During the afternoon she loaded up a quantity of maize and sundries and left soon after 8 p.m. for Northern ports and Sydney. The New Zealand Shipping Company's barque Op&wa took on board the last of her cargo from the s.s. Fairy last evening. She was immediately taken in tow by the B.S. Weka and carried well out"+o sea, and set. sail for London. The OjWa has 4365 bales of wool on board, particulars of which will appear later on. We wish Captain Martin, officers, and crew a safe and pleasant voyage to London. The Ahuriri returned from Waimarama yesterday afternoon with a full cargo of wool. She left late last night. for Mohaka, and is due back at noon to-day. The Union Company's s.s. Omapere arrived yesterday at 4.30 p.m. from Wellington and Westport. She has 120 tons coal for Barry Bros, and a quantity of general • cargo, and leaves this evening at 8 p.m. for Gisborne and Auckland. The' Te- Kapu returned yesterday, landed her cargo, and was to leave again for Wairoa last midnight. . The Weka returned from Mahia last evening, having landed all her cargo and brought back a quantity of wool. She leaves for Gisborne to-morrow afternoon. The Union Company's s.s. Jauet Nicol is expected to leave Dunedin to-morrow for Oamaru, Timaru, and thence direct to Napier. She brings 600 sheep from Oamaru. The Blackball steamer Hesketh is due this morning from Gieymouth with a full cargo of coal. The s.s. Fairy, took in cargo for Mohaka yesterday afternoon and was to leave for there last night. _ The s.B. Fairy is due back from Weilington this morning. The Tysee Company's s.s. Star of Victoria is expected to arrive back here about Tuesday next. Her work at Wanganui has been delayed by heavy south west weather lately. A report to hand states that the American and Australian Steamship Line is about to inaugurate a service of sailing veßsels to Australia. This is a result of the steamship rate war, and the establishment of the new service indicates that the object is to provide for cheap freight for the delivery of which there is no need for speed. Messrs Bnckland and Sonß report that at* Remuera on Thursday dairy cows, in limited number, were better worth. Prices for those at profit ranged from .£4 to Je6. Calves in full number were at late values. Fat cattle yarded numerously; 259 were sold and advanced in price. Steers were from 16s to 19s the 1001 b, and were from .£5 5s to £8 103 j cows, £3 10s to £Q each. Sheep, fairly supplied, 1400 yarded ; wethers were at better values ; ewos at last week's prices ; wethers were from 9s to 13s ; ewes 6s 3d to 103 ; store ewes, 3s 6d to 5s 9d each.
