SCHOONER ON FIRE.

[by telegraph.] Auckland, AVednesday. Early this morning a fire broke out in the auxiliary schooner Medora, lying at the Queen-Btreet wharf. The Fire Brigade put it out in an hour. The damage is estimated at over i>loo. It is believed the owner, Subritzky, sen., is at Awanni. The vessel is uninsured. The origin of the fire is unknown. At first ii was thought to have heen caused by spontaneous combustion in an oil tank, which contain? fuel for thp engine, but it was found the tank was still intact and full of pil, and that the fire started several feet away from it. The planks in the after part of the hull were badly cjiarred, and the deck considerably burned and a bulkhead destroyed. A considerable quantity p£ cargo was daipaged by fire 8/nd water. The Collector of Customs will hold an inquiry.
