Dunedin, Friday. At (he Police Conro to-day Nicholas Edwards was oharged with a serious asaanlt on a man named M'Klnley. For the proseoatlon It was alleged that bb M'Kinley wns leaving Edwards's honee by tho baok door he was art npon, knocked down, and then struck with a bottle, reoelvlog injuries on the head and having a leg broken. For the defnnoe It was pleaded that Mrs Edwardn hod n slight falling for drluk. M'Klnley, tboagh a prohibited person, had gouo to the honne and iaolted her to drink, The haebntid, taking a ran home to see bhat the children were all right, found M'Klnley on the sofa in his house, and did what any man would do— threw him oat, The three J'b.F. were divided, bat as two favored dismissal the oase was accordingly dismissed.
