The Hon. John M'Konzle was unable to address a meeting in tbe City Hall tonight, owing to being selzsd with a severe attack of colic. Dr. King is attending him. The Hon. Mr Walker, Minister of Education, attended tbe meeting to-night and delivered a short political address. Mr Tbeo, Cooper moved, and Mrs Yates seconded, the following resolution, which was carried unanimously :— " That this meeting or Auckland citizens accords a hearty vote of thanks to the Hon, W. C. Walker for his very able and instructive address, and of unabated confidence In tbe present Government." An elderly man named Kenneth Black, on a charge of forgery, has bßen oommltted for trial. --

Thomas William Seaman, late Town Clerk for BlrkeDhead and rate collector to tbe Pakeatna Road Board, oharged with having stolen certain moneys, the pro* perty of the above bodies, was committed for trial.

The Hon, W. C. Walker, Minister of Education, visited the Technical School, Rutland-street, being accompanied by Mr Theo, Coopar, of the Board of Education. Mr Walker expressed his surprise that the Board of Education did not occupy the same relations to the school as existed between tbe Teobnlcal Sohool and the Board of Education la Wellington, In Wellington 116 Board teaobers are qualifying themselves to impart technical education, while in Auckland only three teachers attended the classes. At a meeting of the Charitable Aid Board a letter was received from the Trustees of the Benevolent Institution requesting reconsideration of the deolslon respecting the trustees' requisition, which the Board had reduced by £1000. Ihe Board resolved to adhere to its previous decision.

A resolution was carrieda (Hrming that a Scrip* tare test book should be prepared by a committee and the question of its introduction into schools be submitted to the people by the referendum. It was also rewired by a large majority that the question of Bible rending in schools be submitted to i&a people by the referendum.
