Sldey'a premises at Makotnkn, tbe coroner informs me that he has not beeti informed of any circumstances or " serious facts " since the inquiry that should have been brought before tbe jury; that if it be true that the insurance ageuta were aware of such they ought to have led evidence when examining the witnesses; that tbcj attack made on tho police was, la bis opinion, undeserved; and that it will not i>9 possible for the matter to remain aa it is.

The committee of the Connty ConneD appointed to inqnire into the financial position of the Ruatanlwua Road Board found that on 31st July tbe total liabilities, Including works authorised, amounted to £496 14 1 4d, with asaets £745, including rates now dne, and in addition a section nnd office at Onga Ongn, valued at £100, They recommended the Conneil to agree to the pstitioa and allow the district to merge.
