THE LABOR PARTY.
■ According to the Post to night, the Auckland election ought to ebow the Labor party what its so-called tiiende the Seddonlans think of it. Before Mr Fa wens retired the abnee that was heaped on the Labor party by the Ministerial organ in Auckland was phenomenal in Its Venomonsneas. It quotes passages— '•■ Having pampered the labor dog till the bruta was fractions from overfeeding and - from incapacity to dlgesb that already given him, the Government are surprised and outraged because the animal, after the manner of its kind, has tamed round and bit the hand from which it has been so over-llberally fed." What do the working men think of the nicknames applied to them, "dogs," "brutes," ••animals," "biting the hand that has . over-llberally fed them." Then it will be noticed that this Ministerial paper says Ministers are "surprised and outraged." The' inspiration of the article is therefore direct from Ministers. Here is another passage that the workers may consider 'at> their leisure. •• It will chow the folly of legislating solely for a class ever cons sidered at once ignoranb and ungrateful, • the i poor working man,' which usually means the pot- house loafer, is not an angel without) wings after all." Talk about scurrilous journalism after that ! The Post ventures to assert "That in do so-called Tory journal were the working men ever so characterised as by ibis Ministerial journal, bat notwithstanding this cruel and unmerited criticism It is said the Labor party voted as this same Ministerial jonrn&l told them. These extracts ought to show them that their votes are looked for, and bills will be given them in shoals bat as for any real love for them Ministers have none." Sunday.
