PUBLIC ACCOUNTS COMMITTEE.
' .The proceedings of the Public Accounts Committee this session are expected to be uncommonly lively, especially as the Voting Is likely to be fairly even on Bever&l important financial questions. Ministers postponed setting np the committee till the latest poseible date, on the ground that there was no bnslneas to come before it, and it was only by persistent questioning from the Opposition aide of the House that the committee was at length called ■together. This committee in former sessions exercised considerable Influence on many Important matters, bat the an'thinking majority possessed by the present Government has changed all that and will override the decision of any committee if Ministers think fib.
