A fall meeting of the above Board was held in the Borongh Connoll Chambers, Hastings. Present— Messrs T. Crosse (chairman), M'Hardy, Shrlmpton, Waterhouse, and J. N. Williams ; Inßpecttra Drnmmond and Amyes ; and Mr A. tiilbertson, secretary.

From J: H. Edgecombe, as to rabbit nnisance on tbe Bakau Tatahie block.— Dealt) with in Inspector Gayfors report. From the Weber Road Board, asking far deviation through the rabbib fence at the Akitlo river.— lnspector M'Pheraon to report. From the Bank of Australasia, as to signatures to cheques. — Resolution passed authorising any member of the Board to alga cheques in conjunction with the treosnrer, and chairman to countersign cheques passed in Muy. From Inspectors Woof and Gayfor, forwarding letters of thanks for eratulties passed at last meetiog ; and from the latter asking for leave of absence.— Granted,

The Chairman moved that a smn of £600 be placed in the Bank of Australasia on fixed deposit for six months, leaving the sum of £189 4* 7d available to cover any excess of the estimated oatgoing?. — Carried. The pay-sheet for the month, amonnting to £190 0i lid was passed for payment:.

The secretary reported that no reply bad been received irom the Government to the Board's application for a refund oi a portion of the expenses incurred in in specting and poisoning the portion of tbe Ruabine ranges recently inspected by tbe Board's officers. The total expenses being £55 the secretaiy was instructed to again apply to the Government for a return of half tbe cost, viz, £27 10s.

PROPOSED AMENDMENTS. The Cnairnian explained that he had been la communication with the Stock department as to oertaln proposed amendments to the Rabbit Nuisance Acts of 1882 and 1686, which would confar upon Babbit Boards the power to proclaim special districts In which they could undertake the duty ot clearing ground and destroying rabbits, and to levy a special rate upon the Rtookowners whose names appear upon the stockowners liat of snch Bpeclal distriot.

It was resolved that the following droll) 'amendments to the Aot ba forwarded to the Stock Department for consideration :—

Proposed Amendment to the Rabbit Nuibanoe Act, 1882, Amendment Act, 1886. 1. Tho Board of Trustees of a district may by resolution constitute any port or parts of the dlstrlofi under their control a special district. 2. The resolution constituting a special dis- ' trlct shall he publicly notified once a week for four consecnttve weeks. A special meetIng of the Board may then be held to confirm the resolution, not sooner than twenty-eight clear days after the date ot holding tho preceding meeting. 3. A special district shall be deemed to be properly constituted upon a public notice appearing in the "Gazette," signed by the chairman, that such special district has been duly constituted according to law. i. A. speotal district! may be so constituted unless a majority consisting of nob less than three-fourths of thestockownerswhose names appear on the Stockowners' List for tho distriot, and who are rated In respect of sheep or cattle depasturing within the proposed special distriot, shall petition the Board of Trustees before, the confirmatory meeting, that suoh . special district shall not be so constituted. 6. In addition to the ordinary rates leviable under clause 23 of the Amendment Act, 1886, - it shall be lawful for the Board to levy such BPeolal rate as may be required for the deBtruotton of rabbits within such special district*

6. The Board shall undertake at their own coat the destruction of rabbits within suoh special district by such means as they may deem necessary, 7. The provisions of clauses 8 to II of the Babbit Nuisance Act of 1882 shall not apply to stockowners within the boundaries of a special district. 8. The Beard may, by special resolution notified and confirmed in the manner provided in clause 2 ot this Aot, or upon petition of threß-fonrths of the ratepayers within a special distriot, at any time declare a speoial distriot to be dissolved, whereupon suoh special dlstflct Bhall again be Bubjeot to the provisions contained in clauses 8 to 11 ot the Act aforesaid.

On Mac's whare, Patoka, few traces and started one rabbit ; no fresh Bigns on rough country or lower rough country, Patoka, Oat oa Greenmeadows hills and Neagle's whare range, saw one on latter. With Inspector Campbell on Wallace's, killed one and bbw numerous indications ; no one rabbiting. Fresh traces on Glen- ' garrle, poison' to be laid ; no freah signs on Hedgeley, Bennett's Prior Park, VV aikoninl, Wether Block Whana, back of Whana, part of Glenrose, or on part of Omatna. - From Inspector Gayfor : With Inspector Woof, at the Haabine ranges, saw Messrs 'Galsford and Montgomery, They agreed to keep a rabbiter each oa Mount Herbert and Woburn'rans. Fonnd traces on Tuki Tukl river bed and about Woburn gorge. Saw Nepe Tl Apatu, who arranged to poison Rakaa Tatabie block. With rabbiter Macro, about Wobnrn gorge, found traces, also on Redonbt block and past the woolsbed. Found traces on Arlington ran at Innlsmore boundary, in scrub on Innismore, and numerous traces on' Torarie block ; hunted rabbit into rocks here. Saw Mr Hooper re Arlington: Inspected Wobarn ran along banks of Maharagihlgihi and found traces. Over portion of Mangatarata, no fresh traces. Found rabbiter employed at Wobnrn hunting with eight dogs. Traps and poison to b 9 laid. loepected portion of .Norsewood district, found it in satisfactory state except Messrs Bockland's and Rhode's sections, where traces were found. These gentlemen are neither contributing to the local rabbit committee or keeping anyone to destroy rabbits. Found traces on J. Gollan's on Manawatu, also on Prescott's, Copna. Committee are going to poijon Gollan's property. No truces on Adrien'a, railway bridge reserve an banks of Mangatewalaui, or a number of clearings on Hawke's Bay Timber Company's property. Fohnd a few traces on Bye's and Frederickson's. Norsewood district as a whole in good order. Will serve notices on those who have nob joined the committee, and who are not destroying rabbits, and, if necessary, information will be laid. From Inspector M'Pherson : At Mangatera, killed two rabbits on Paulson's and

one on Monyghan's, lower Umutaoroa, the first noticed on this section. Over portion of Te Papakara. Saw rabbit sear Mangatera stream. Centre Umutaoroa, slight traces on Bnrke's and Rybhone's, dose to Bishop Redwood's. No signs irom latter section to Costall's. At Otope, over T. H. Hunter's, saw fresh traces Id two places. Killed rabbit, and saw another 'on Kinnear's new burn.

Rabblter to be pub on afc once. Up fVae- _, waepa, face started one on Hoggan's new burn. Over several sections in Mangatoro valley. Saw traces on Smith's a camber on Kelson's, Pakutoi, on new barn Boath of fence, - also traces north of fence near Williams and Kettle's boundary, also signs on latter place. Through Monga< toro to Weber, fence from Tltreo point to • Irvene's. wharein good order; a number of fresh signs south of fence, on Cooper's, also on Burnvie w, north of fence. Through M'Kaln'e and Cooper's to sea wall, killed rabbit on Cooper's, traces on M'Kaln's ; examined fence back to Irvene's whare, perfectly rabbit proof. Over portions at Walnal no signs. To Wimbledon and Titree-polnt, on country south of fence, alight traces on M'Lean's near manuka scrub, killed rabbit on Warm's. fresh traces at Easterbrook's and M'Leod's, alight signß at MonDt Aithnr, does to Mr G. Crosses rabbit lence ; saw fresh traces on Wellington aide at tbe netting, no signs on Palmer's and Fitzlaffs or back

With Messrs Morgan, Ward, Hales, and Perry, with guns and - psek of dogs over country near Taputahi, killed rabbib on road reserve ab Perry's boundary, three on Ward's and one on Morgan's, close to White's back country. Along fence to G. Croese's all in good order. No signs on country near Tahoakereta creek except on Ryan's, near Table stream. East of Weber and Akiblo river, saw fresh signs on Mabbet's, and a number on Chote's and France's ; rabbiter bad killed a few here. Saw rabbib on Sales', near Weber, and traces on Nayton'e adjoining. Measuring and passing deviation in fence. Slight traces on M'Kenzie Bros', new burn. Over A. Berber's killed one and saw another, killed one on J. Mlssen's, freeh signs

on Cameron's. At Woipatlkl, saw alight traces on Hart's and flnnt's Fresh traces on M'Lean's Oporoae ; killed two rabbits on M'Nell s, on small lections near Danevirke ; saw rabbit on Bates's. certain damages found to exist. — It was resolved that a copy of Agent Webb's report and statement and of Inspector M.'Fherson's report, the correctness of which latter report was fully corroborated by Inspector Drutumond, should be sent to Inspector Miller and to bhe Stock Department. From Inspector Woof.— To Takapan and South Makatetu, walked to camp at head of the river. Laid poison nn watershed leading to Tutnoro, where rabbit was seen previously ; found several fresh traces ; laid poison on Ruahines. Owing to snow and hoavy weather retnrned to Takapau. Arranged \V. Thomson as to rabbiting for settlers In South Makarotu. Killed rabbib on R. Angns's. Saw one on Grant's. To North Makaretu : Laid poison very thickly on river flat above Kyber Pass. Very few freah traces. On Morrison's and A'Deane's fonnd traces on both. Saw Morrison, arranged for poison Attended meetiog of South Makareta settlers ; they arranged to put on rabbiter, Grant's rabbiter to mix poison for them. Down river no rlgns. Called at Ashoot*, A'Deane's, and with him over property ; killed one, showed place for poison. Laid poison with Mr Morrison. Through Otane bush and Todd's, no signs. On AshleyClinton smalt settlers', no signs here or on Merlvale. On Blbby's slight signs top of run ; arranged with Mr Blbby for traps and poison. On Beacher'p, Forest Gate, Steed's, Jensen'B, and TaklTnkl frontage of same, no signs. On Faiifield with Mr Russell] killed one and arranged for poison. Part of Hastings, Waipawa river bed, and Dillon's, no signs. On Wlilierow'a slight signs, but great Improvement since last visit ; arranged for poisoning. On Small's and old Tukl Tnki river bed, no signs. Took poison to Holder's. Throngh part of Hatupden bush, no signs. In reference to Ruahinea thinks poieon ought to do good work, bat recommending thorough inspection of all the range from back of Matamau to Parke's Peak and up Waipawa river next summer. Also that a Blab hat camp be erected at head of Makareta river, and track fixed. Ib will be necessary to again poison Tumore part of range. Thinks It advisable to fix a camp at back of Whakarara and search the foot of range there. Thinks no canse for anxie>y up the Tukl Tukl above Kyber Pass, as traces are less numerous than at last visit. Poison will be laid on properties where Inspector Amyes found rabbits.
