THE WAIPAWA SCHOOL.

Sir, — I wish to call your attention to a part of yonr Waipawa correspondent's letter, of tho 17th August, re the Waipawa school committee and the Edncution Board. He says, after referring to the Board's remissness in not attending to the matter, "Apropos of this, one of the members of the visiting committee while at the school yesterday went through the floor of the old portion, and on examining it tound that it was completely rotten." Just so, but this is a more serious matter than may appear on the face of it. I cannot, however, understand, r.fter going right through the floor, nod if appears without serious injury to himself, why he should afterwards examine it to iiud out whether it was rotten or not. If the Education Board are wise they will give immediate attention to tho matter, for there is no knowing but that this plucky cotnmitteeman may proceed to examine other parts of the building, and should he have the same experience again, aud drop through the ceiling for instance, the consequences might be serious, and should an iuqnest be necessary, unless the jnry were well guided, the verdict might make it very awkward indeed for the Education Board. One would, however, think that the next time tho vlsitinc committee ru.tu goe* to examine the building, after his past expeilenco, be will tread a little more gingerly and carefully.
