WAIPAWA.

The annual meeting for the election of a school committee was held lost night. Mr S. Johnson presided, and about 50 persons were present Tbe report of the committee and balance-sheet for the year ending March 3ht were read and adopted without comment, although the chairman invited discussion if anyone saw cause. Messrs W. White, A. Gilmour, M. Collett, J. Harker, C. Nash, J. Mogridge, B. B. Johußon, and G. Rose were nominated, aud Mr W. Joues decliued. Ou finding that oaly himself betides tbe old committee was nominated, Mr Rose withdrew, and tho other gentlemen were declared elected. Votes of thanks were carried unanimously to Mr W. Uathbone for bis generous offer of a f reo situ for a master's residence ; to Mr fiechab Hardiug for his gift of 26 handsome prizes for full attendance ; the chairman convey the votes to Messrs lUthbono and Harding. Similar votes were passed to Mr Mogridge, late secretary, for his energetic way of conducting the duties devolving on him ; to the retiring com mittee aud the chairman of the meeting. The new committee met later, all beiug present, when Messrs W. White and J. Mogridge were re-elected chairman and secretary respectively, and it was decided to hold the meetings monthly on lirtt Thursdays, aud that a special general meeting be held on Wednesday evening to consider necessary improvements to boys' ground,
