In the iirsl spell (Jrindcll scored a try for the winners, and Double potted a goal. Ryan, by a nplondid kick from a mark registered 3 points for the T&radale team. In Die second spoil Simmons and Austin each secured 11 try for the Caledonians. Both teams gave a good display of juuior football, but the superior combination of the Caledonians proved too much for the Taradale men. Tbc committee of the Pirates Club are rcqnested to meet at the gyuiiitmium to-morrow nigbt at 8 o'clock. The Otago Rugby Union are opposed to the formation or a New Zealand Rugby Union, tor the annual report contains the following clause : — "In reference to the proposal broached by Mr Hoben of Hawke's Bay to form a New Zealand Ilngty Union your committee unanimously decided that in their opinion the institution of such a body at present would be premature."
