He asked the captain to release them until 2 -o'clock, whan, if the dispute is not settled, the sailers will again be taken into custody for insubordination. Christchubch, Saturday. John Woodward, the local candidate for the Lincoln seat, addressed a meeting at Springs ton lastnight. The proceedings were somewhat farcical. The audience chaffed tbe candidate, who fully returned their chaff. He said the name of New Zealand would not be improved by its going forth to the world that its people were becoming a nation of whisky millers, an allusion to Mr Saunders' State distillery scheme. He had advocated a scheme of " Jubilee"" farm land system, founded on that of the ancient Jews.
