The consideration of the hill was then proceeded with and several clauses were struck out by agreement. . Clause 5, providing that Jubilee expenditure by municipalities be sanctioned, was agreed to. Clause 6, relating to special provision as to the width oi streets on Scinde Island (Napier), was agreed to. Clause 4, empowering borough councils to light streets by electricity and supply electricity, wis agreed to. Clause 12, empowering the Governor-in-Cquncil to extefld ,the time for holding elections, was agreed to. The bill was then ordered to be reported with amendments. WEST COAST SETTLEMENTS BILL. The House went into committee on the West Coast Settlements Act Amendment Bill, which passed through with amendments.
