VICTORIA.
(Received December 21, 1.55 a.m.) . Melbourne, Tuesday. A cricket match has been played between Vernon's team and 22 of Gippsland. The latter went in first, but only succeeded in putting together 51 runs. The Englishmen were not disposed of until they had compiled 152. With 101 runs behind, the Gippslanders then commenced their second innings, but were all out for 98. The match thus resulting in a win for the visitors by an innings and two runs to spare. . Actions have been instituted' against Messrs Gillespie, Aitken, Scott and Co., Melbourne, and Messrs Rickman and Co., of Echuca, by the Commissioner of Customs in connection with the importation of a quantity of roller milling machinery which was grossly undervalued with the ■ object of defrauding the revenue. Messrs Gillespie, Aitken, Scoot and Co. were fined £1500 and Messrs Rickman and Co. £750, although the Commissioner blamed the English consignors and acquitted the local firms of any intention of defrauding.
