NBW SOUTH WALES.

(Reooired November 30, 10.40 p.m.) Sydney, Wednesday. Instructions have been received by the High Commissioner for New Guinea to proclaim British sovereignty over the territory. It is understood that the appointment of a Governor will he made very shortly. (RecoiTCd Docember 1, 2 n.m.) A case of supposed wholesale poisoning is reported from the Albury district. A dispute had arisen at Mr Main's station, Tumberumha, between' some Union and non-Union shearers, after which a number of the latter were seized with sudden illness. Over a dozen of the men are now lying in a very critical state, though they are expected to recover. It is believed that arsenic waa placed in the water to poison the men. The cricket match between Vernon's team and eleven of Sydney was concluded to-day. The home team continued their second innings, but were unable to add anything to the score of 408 made yesterday. The Englishmen then went in, but were all disposed of for 106, Stoddart 16, Pell (not out) 34, lleid 14, and Attewell 17 being the principal scorers. Tlie Sydney eleven thus won the match by one wicket and 40 runs. [There has evidently been a mistake in telegraphing the match. The pnly score of the Australians wired was in respect to one innings, the total ol which was 408. Two innings of Vernon's team have been wired totalling 446, and there must therefore have been an innings of the Sydney men which was riot4elegraphed.]
