The House resumed at 7.30 in committee od the ADMINISTRATION ACT AMENDMENT BILL, Several new clauses were added, and the bill was reported with amendments, which were ordered to be considered on Friday next. BEPBESENTATION ACT AMENDMENT BILL. . Ihe second reading of the Eepresentation Act Amendment Bill waa moved. The object of the bill waa explained to be to enable the various electorates in the cities, of Auckland, "Wellington, Chriatohurch, and Dnnedin to amalgamate - respectively into one electorate. Should the members of any of these towns consider their constituents did not require such alteration, then they could strike out such city when the bill . went into committee. Mr Wakeßeld thought the danger, would be that . one popular man would carry the whole election. He would, however, support the bill. . . Messrs Dargavillo, Fisher, Newman, Stewart, and Gore supported the bill, and Messrs Walker, Hurst, Peacock, and T. Thompson opposed it. Mr Leveatam. moved that the bill be read that, day six months. Mr W. F. Buckland and Colonel Trimble spoke against the principle of the.biilj whilOlr Mobs and Sir George I Grey favored it., , ■ *-. .
