SHEEP DIPS.

The Agricultural and" Pastoral Society have received a report from Mr .Robert Murton, wool valuer and auotioneer for Helmuth Schwartze and Co., London, on samples of wool shorn from sheep dipped in the various dips tested at the dipping experiments under the auspices of the society on the 17th and 18th of September last. The dips were taken at the trials in the following order : — 1, Little's ; 2, M'Dougall's ; 3, Gillard's ; 4, Thomas's ; 5, Hall's ; 6, Cooper's ; 7, Glycerine ; 8, J. Logan Wilson's ; 9, Jayes. In the report received by the society the letter A corresponds to No. 5 ; B, to No. 9 ; 0, to No. 3 ; D, to No. 8 ; E, to No. 4; H, to No. 2 ; I, to No. 1 ; X, to No. 6 ; and L, to No. 7. The following ia the report : — A — Has a slight chemical smell ; staple quite sound; no coagulation of grease; fair lustre. B — Rather strong smell; dull appearance ; staple sound ; rather soapy and sticky feel. C — Not much smell ; good lustre ; frae, clear, and sound staple. D —No smell ; capital lustre ; soft feel ; clear and sound staple. E — Little or no smell ; free staple and sound ; good lustre ; soft feel. H — Some smell ; harsh dried up feel ; ootted staple ; not bright ; the life seems taken out ; there is no elasticity. I— Smells strong ; staple strong ; rather dried up ; brownish oast. X—SlightK — Slight smell ; more yolk in than others ; fair lustre ; sound staple. L — Some smell ; dried up appearance and dull look; rather tender. In general the lustre seems unaffected, as also the strength of the hair. For condition and lustre the best seem to be in order D, C, E. B has a very bad smell ; H and L seem dried up. These I dips seem any way to be better than the old sulphur wash, which left the wool Bmelling very badly indeed, and with a heavy dead appearance. There is no coagulation of grease observable ; on the contrary, all of the Bamples have a "washed" appearance.
