" OWN " CORRESPONDENTS.
Sir,—l notice that you head my report to you of the Waipawa County Council with the words " our own correspondent." This is apt to be inconvenient to me, because you publish weekly a rather caustically humorous letter from this place, the author of which appears to be diligently sought for—judging from my experience since you placed the words objected to over my report. I prefer not to be confounded with the facetious s;entleman "your own," and think every tub ought to stand on its own bottom. I therefore hope you will publish thia. —l am, &c, Your Council Reporter. fWe must apologise for our inadvertency. Country correspondents generally object to report meetings of public bodies —perhaps for the very reason that that might lead to their identification. We generally send one of our own reporters to the Waipawa County Council, but on this occasion we were indebted to a Waipawa friend for the report. We sincerely hope that he will not be killed before this explanation sees the light.—Ed. H.JB.HJ]
