Frederick Taylor, 27, describing himself as a costermonger, having no fixed home, was charged before Mr Cooke at the Marylebone Police Court on May 39th with being a lunatic wandering at large, and not under proper control, atEdgwarcroad. Police constable John Neil, 409 X, stated that the prisoner was pointed out to him walking up the street, and he went up to him and asked him if he knew where ho was going.. He said he was going to Her Majesty the Queen, to whom he was related, and that he was also a relation of the German Ambassador. He added that he was accused of committing murder, but he did not murder his wife. Witness took him to John-street Police Station, where ho was seen by Dr. Kirby, the divisional surgeon. The prisoner observed that he had been to the workhouse, and the doctor there said that he was under some hallucination. The constable stated that he took the prisoner to the workhouse from the station, and the doctor said that morning that lie was fit to be brought to the Court. The prisoner had been lately discharged fron? Colney Hatch Asylum. Tlie prisoner remarked that when taken in custody he had no lodging and no money, and he was a little excited. He had some relations round ihe Strand way, but he did not know their addresses. Mr Cooke— Why did you make the statement to the constable about being related to the Queen ] The prisoner— He asked me, and I thought he would like to know. He could believe it or not. Mr Cooke — Do you repeat your statement ] The prisoner said he did, but he did not know whether they would believe it. Dr Kirby said he saw the prisoner at the station, and his opinion was that he was in an unsound stale of mind, and that delirium tremens had something to do with it. Mr Cooke made an order for him to be sent to the workhouse.
