DEEPENING THE CHANNEL.

Sut, — Will you kindly allow me to suggest to the Napier Harbor Board the advisability of employing a diver to attach charges of dynamite to the bottom of the channel at the Spit, and exploding them as the tide is runningout ; it would break the boulders in small pieces, and the tide would then most likely be able to move them. I think it would be more effectual than employing a steamer with a rake, and need not be more expensive. If the dynamiting was persevered with it would in a short time deepen the channel considerably.. — I am, &c. , J. Sparrow. Napier, March 29 3 1879.
