The ground, as might have been expected, was very hard, but notwithstanding this drawback, the bowling,as will be seen by reference to 1 the scoringwas very effective. The Port Ahuririi ; eleven then! took the wickets. Kendall's/ was the best innings ; he oolite mastered the bdwlfng and carried his bat through the innings with a score of 39 runs. ' Luke and W. H. Smith made 12 and 10 runs respectively. The score stood at 88---runs when the last wicket, was put down. ( ' Baker's fielding on the side of the County was very noticeable.
