Arrival of the Rangatira.

The s.s. Rangatira, Captain Keener, returned to pert about 1 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon. Captain lienner, whom we have to thank for Jate files from the ''Empire City," reports of his passage henoe to Wellington and back : — Left Port Ahuriri on Thursday, 15th inst., at 8 p m., and arrived oS Cape Turnagain early on Friday morning ; but, owing to the heavy sea on, was not able to land or ship any cargo, consequently resumed her passage ; arrived off Caßtle Point the same duy ; shipped 52 bales wool, and left for Wellington at 3 p.m. the same day, with a fine north westerly breeze, which Held until near midnight, at which time the vessel was off Cape Palliser ; it then suddenly veered to S.W., and blew "great guns ;" in consequence of which had to bear up for shelter, and dropped anchor off Castle Point at 8 am. on the 17th (Saturday.) The weather having moderated, left the •' Castlo" at 7 p.m. on the 18th, and arrived at Wellington at 10 a.m. on the 19th. having encountered a moderate southerly breeze. Left Wolliugton, on the return trip, at 12.30 p.m. on -the 20th (Tuesday last). Had fresh breezes from N.W. to S.W. during part of the trip up. Called in at Capo TurDagain on Wednesday morning, but a heavy S.E. sea prevented any communication with the shore ; arrived at one o'clock the same day. Tne Eangatira was yesterday to have assisted in the launch of tho Star of the South, but that, owing to the heavy sea od, having been postponed, she steamed for Wellington via the coast at 6 o'clock last evening.
