NAPIER BOYS' SCHOOL.
An examination for prizes of pupils, at the Napier Boys' school, taught by Mr. Grant, was conducted onWednesday by the Rev. Massrs. Townsend and Morice. We have appended the list of subjects for the first class, as also the names of all those who got prizes. "-"../".. Ist Class.— -Reading : A newspaper paragraph and a piece of poetry. Object lesson : The air. Spelling and writing from dictation. Grammar : Etymology and parsing. Geography : The world, Oceania, New Zealand, and England. Arithmetic, as far as simple proportion. Prizes in Ist Class.— Reading and dictation, William Henry Tyler ; writing, Walter Beyer; arithmetic, W. H. Tyler; geography, James Morley ; grammar, W. H. Tyler and James Wishart. 2nd Class. — Reading, Charles Mogridge; spelling and dictation, George Luff; arithmetic, Herbert.Mogridge ; writing, David Bennet ; diligence and .good conduct, Winter Hamond. 3rd Class. — Reading, William 'F. Bowden ; spelling and writing from dictation, John Morison. 4th Clas3.—~ Harry Fletcher, for reading, spelling, and sums.
