Concert. • — A concert was given at Mennee on Saturday evening, for the laudable purpose of assisting the widow and orphans of a late and much respected resident in the township. There was a very good attendance, although, owing to barvesting, tbe hall was not crowded. There was some really grand instrumental music by Messrs. G. and 0. Thomas, and a. long list of songs, chiefly by local residents, but to which a young lady from Napier ably contributed. A few mistakes were inevitable upon so hurriedly got up an entertainment, the local contributors to which had had but scanty opportunities to practice, but the audience was an exceedingly good humored one, and gave many signs of approval. One of the songs, " Tom Bowline," by Mr. Baldwin, was rendered with great power and spirit, and several others were warmly applauded. As the hall, &c, were given gratuitously, the gross proceeds, or nearly so, will be available for the object with which tbe concert wa3 given.
