The Wreck Recovery Co.'s 8.8. Taranaki, left yesterday afternoon for Wellington, having on board Colonels Russell und Whitraore, members of the Legislative Council. We understand that moat probably Captain Holmes will take command of the ss. Wellington again, on his arriving in Wellington, where that vessel has been undergoing a thorough overhauling. Report sayeth that Captain Wheeler, long and favourably known on this coast, will have command of the Taranaki. The ketch Why Not cleared at the Customs last Saturday for Wairoa, with a full miscellaneous cargo. The schooner Bee left this port for Lyttelton, last Friday, in ballast. The 8.8. Star of the South arrived at Auckland on Friday last, after a very favourable passage. She is expected to arrive shortly. The s.s. Storm Bird was expected to-day from Wellington ; but advices came last evening that she was taken off and sent to the West Coast. The Government p.s. Luna, is shortly expected here from Wellington. Most likely, now that the Storm Bird is not coming, she will bring on the English mails. The Omeo arrived at the Bluff from Melbourne on the 20th at i 20 p.m. The Tarurua sailed from the Bluff on the loth, for Melbourne. The Claud Hamilton sailed from Nelson on the 18th, for Greymouth, and arrived on the 20th.
