AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET.

(Reports for the week ending June 17.) MB. ALFRED BUCKLAND. On Saturday last fodder was in better demand than on the previous week. For the land offered there was scarcely a bid made. After the auction the farm at Ruarangi was sold at sj. an aore. Horse -stock were generally of very middling quality, and dull of sale. A good heavy draught 1 gelding— the only one offered— realised £50. Riding and light harness horses from 40s. to £11 each. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows were lower in price than' previous week, about 20s. each. Store cattle were in improved request. Fat cattle were in larger than usual supply.' They met with a free sale, and brought between 32a, and 355. the 1001 b,; 97 head sold to the butcher. The cargo (42 head) ex Wanganui averaged £11 10s. Sheep market was very 'full of fat stock of good quality : prices were well sustained. Those ex Stormbird averaged 128. 6d. ; ex Wanganui 12s. 6d. ; ex Comerang, 12s. Well- fatted Bheep brought 2|d. to 3d. per Ib. Inferior sheep were much lower in price. Pigs of good quality were' more plentiful than usual, but prices were a shade lower than have lately ruled. Horses : The market has been tolerably brisk since last report. Good up-standing and draught horses meet with ready sale at an advance on late prices ; and for unbroken, heavy draught, and light harness horses, as previously reported, there is an unsatisfied inquiry. There was a large muster of horses and good attendance of buyers. Prices rallied considerably for second-class animals, no really good having been disposed of. We sold hacks at from £4 7s. Gd. to £11. Light harness, from £13 sa. to £15. The Omnibus fetched £80, and several other traps sold well. Fodder . There was a marked improvement in Wednesday's market, a greatly iucreased quantity being brought forward, with a good muster of buyers, evidencing the necessity of a semi- weekly sale. Prices ranged, for hay, from £3 to £6. Straw, from 17s to 28s per load. Cattle : The supply of store stock unequal to requirements, and advancing a shade in price. Dairy cows offering freely, but mostly of inferior description ; prices have receded at least £1 per head. Fat stock in limited supply, but no alteration in price worthy of note. Beef, 35s ; very prime, 37s Gd per lOOlbs. Dairy cows sold at from £9 2s Gd to £12 78 Gd per head. Store stock nominal. Sheep market moderately supplied, and prices remain firm with an upward tendency ; those in first-class condition fetched from 17s to 22s each ; average quality from 14a to 15s Gd ; while prices for inferior quality were proportionately lesa. Pigs in short supply ; priceß without material alteration.
