Arrival of the s.s. Star of the South.

Star of the South, Bendall, left Auckland on the 26th May,, in the afternoon, with light N. wind- and heavy weather ; passed East Cape at 4 p.tn! last Sunday ; had fine weather; passed Tologa Bay at 3 p.m. same day, and, in consequence of the wind veering round to the B.S.E. and blowing very hard (about 9 strength;, with lightning, rain, and sea rising, bore up for the East Cape under close reefed topsail. Shipped some heavy seas whilst rounding the. Cape. Weather having somewhat cleared up on Monday, hauled up under the lee of the land, and anchored in Kawa Kawa. Left there last Tuesday morning, after weather moderating, and experienced heavy head seas and strong head winds as far as Gable Eud Foreland, 1 from thence moderate weather. Rounded I Portland Island last Wednesday at 5 a. in , and arrived in the roadstead at 10 a.m., entering the lion Pot at 5 p.m. same day.
