We were shown yesterday some very rich specimens found in the above claim. These stones were taken from a leader eighteen inches thick, which has been just struck in the low level drive put in from the Te Papa creek side of the claim, and is the same leader as one worked some time ago on the surface, from which some excellent returns were received. The gold is of a coarse quality, but very thickly distributed through the stone which is a solid blue and white quartz. The large body of stone which has been worked for some time at the forty foot level has also been struck in this claim. The level of this main drive is over 200 feet below the surface of the hill, and from the good prospects now obtained in these leaders, at this level, the ultimate returns from this claim cannot fail being something very handsome for the fortunate owners. There were over 501bs of specimens taken out yesterday, which together with the amount already on hand will be crushed in a few days. The shareholders in this claim deserve their good luck, as the claim has been steadily worked now for over two years.
