Taupo. — The last intelligence received from this district is that our troops, as well as the Hau Haus under Te Kooti, were " snowed up," and that no operation could possibly be. undertaken for some days. . It is probably from the some cause that Capt. W. M'Donnell's arrival in Napier has been deferred. Prospecting Party. — A prospecting party of a captain and five men, engaged by the Hawke's Bay Gold-Mining Company, will start this morning, en route for the Kaimanawa. They are good men, led by an experienced hand, and may success attend their efforts. Napier Election. — The nomination of a member to a seat in the Provincial Council, in lieu of S. Locke, Esq., will take place this day at noon. Mr. Newton (whose return we sincerely hope to see) is, as we gather from our contemporary, to be opposed by Mr. James Grindell. Auckland Stock Market. — Our country readers will be glad to learn, from the reports we publish of the . Auckland stock market, that — "grazing stock of every description are steadily on the advance." Land and Building Society.— < The annual general meeting of this society, will be held on the evening of Monday, next, 11th inst.
