Furniture. — Routledge, Kennedy, &Co. will hold a sale of furniture this day. — See advertisement. Pound Sales at Havelock and Meanee are announced for to-day. The Napieb Election. — The nomination of a member to represent the Town of Napier in the Provincial Council, consequent upon Mr. Locke's resignation, will take place on Tuesday nexfc. It will be seen that Mr. Newton has offered himself as a candidate. The Provincial Council will, most likely, bring its business to a close tomorrow. Executive Council. — It will be seen from our report of the proceedings in the Provincial Council that His Honor the Superintendent has appointed J. Rhodes Esq. J.P., A. Kennedy Esq. and J. A'Deane Esq. J.P., as his Executive Council. These gentlemen assumed their functions on Tuesday. Resignation of Seat. — Mr. S. Locke, who has for a long time been one of the representatives of the town in the Provincial Council, has resigned bis seat, he having been appointed Resident Magistrate for Taupo, Wairoa, and Waiapu. The First Bicycle. — The first bicycle owned in this province is now in Napier. Unlike most articles of die kind, it is of local manufacture — tbe owner^ Mr. G. Thomas, having designed it and executed the carpenter work, while Mr. Burston, of Meanee, did the iron work. Time has not yet permitted of its capabilities being tested, but we have no doubt it will do well, and quite expect, shortly, to see it bowling along between Napier and Port Ahuriri. ' Meanee Church. — Service will be held on Sunday next at 3 p.m., by the Rev. A. Shepherd. Singing practice on Saturday.
