SPLENDID FIND OF GOLD AT COROMANDEL.

(From the correspondent of the 'Southern Cross.') September 18. I Havu been shown some magnificent specimens to-day from the Virginia Claim, Coromandel. The claim has been worked for several months, and at last the lucky shareholders have been rewarded for their labour ; the specimens are almost nuggets of gold, being one mass of gold right through the stone. The specimens were taken from a block of stone in opening up a face previous to commencing a drive. The claim is situated on the summit of the hill, and they are now working vigorously on the new leader, from which they are taking specimens. The specimens may be seen at Messrs. Ackland, Clark, and Eobinson's oflice, Grahamstown, where they are now on view. The Emma Challis is also taking out splendid stone. The Last Hit, situate on the Upper Karaka, have just struck a very fine leader after several months' hard work. The stone isjetted all over with gold. The Golden Crown retorted yesterday 3500z.

The Silver Crown Company's claim hag lately attracted considerable attention:, and shares have changed hands at a comparatively high figure. Some veryfine specimens were taken out of it on iftTednesday, and the reef is 20 . feet in width. The claim is situate on the ridge between "Wiseman's and Tinker's gullies. The Upper Karaka continues jto advance in public favour. The Sylvia is spoken of most highly, and there is a good demand for the scrip at what may be considered good prices. Sales were made, I believe in the Stock Exchange last week at 10s., but the scrip is now being held for a much higher figure. The Great Southern, which is peg and peg with the Sylvia, and in the run of the same reef, is now coming into favour. I have no doubt that next summer will witness some immense strides by this district, which appears destined to be one of the most productive on the goldfield. Some very fine specimens from the Last Hit Claim, Upper Jlaraka, were brought to town on Saturday. They were taken out of a new leader, which was struck a few days ago, and which has every appearance of turning out very rich.
