FIRE BRIGADES.
The following letter, in reference to a resolution passed at the public meeting held in Napier, has been handed us for publication: — Colonial Secretary's Office, Wellington, Sept. 1, 1869. Sir,— -I have the' honor to acknowledge the receipt'of your letter of the 14th. ult., enclosing resolutions of a public meeting held at Napier, for an Act to be passed in reference to Fire Brigades ; and, in reply, to state that the pressure of business is so great, and the session so near its close, that the Government is. unable to submit a bill to the Assembly during this session, but a bill will be prepared and submitted to the General Assembly at its next meet* ing. : *■>•■' I have the honor to be, ...••■ Sir, Your most obedient servant, W.
