The Bachelobs' Ball, on Tuesday night, was a very pleasant and, in all respects, successful affair. Heavy Rain set in yesterday morning, and has continued since with little intermission. We must expect some bad weather now that mid-winter may be supposed to have fairly set in. Mihtia.+— By proclamation which appears in a Provincial Government Gazette, the whole of the Militia in the Napier District are called out for actual service. School Appointments. — Mr. John Ballantine has been gazetted as schoolmaster for Clive ; Mrs. Hertzel as schoolmistress for Porangahau, and Miss McKinnon for the Port school. The provincial schools, weather permitting, will be inspected next I week. !
