Christchurch, Monday, May 31." Consequent on the proceedings at Friday's meeting of Council, the Executive has voluntarily resigned. The Superintendent, with the view of falling in with the resolutions then passed, has announced himself as a candidate for the city, in the room of Mr, Garrick. 1 'U There is great excitement in consequence of the radical change involved in the Superintendent taking his seat as a member of Council. The Times opposes his election. The Press supports it.
