[*RO3£ OUE OWN CORHEBPONDBNIB..I CANTERBURY. Christchurch, Monday, May 17. The first reading of the Bill to amalgamate electoral districts and reduce representation in the Provincial Council, wil be moved to-morrow by the Provincia Solicitor. The Government is divided on this question ; the Bill will most likely be thrown out ; and the resignation of the Executive probably follow. The Times stronglj opposes the Bill. The Jockey Club have changed the future "annuals" from January to Eastet week. The next meeting will be on Easter Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with a good programme, including a steeple chase on the second, and a hurdle race on the third day.
