The following curt reply has been forwarded from the Colonial Secretary's office to the memorialists : — Colonial Secretary's Office, Wellington, 29th April, 1869. Gentlemen, — I have the honor, by the direction of Mr. Stafford, to acknowledge the receipt of your memorial to His Excellency the Governor, dated the 9fch instant, on the subject of the withdrawal of tbe powers of government agent from His Honor D. M'Lean. I have the honor to be, gentlemen, Your most obedient servant, W. Gisbobne, Under-Secretary. W. R. Russell, Esq., J.P., and other memorialists, Meanee, Hawke's Bay.
