Titokowharu was crowned at Patea* on Sunday, and is proceeding towards Waitotara. The second class Wanganui militia have been called out, and, with the friendly natives, have marched for Waitotara. In the House, last night, Mr. Stafford refused to recommend a dissolution at present. He would not say what advice he would tender. He would not say he should absolutely refuse to advise a dissolution sometime during the recess. Mr. O'Neill's motion to make all revenue, territorial and otherwise, general revenue, was lost — 11 members voting for it to 47 against. On the first motion in committee of supply, Mr. Yogel moved that the Chairman do report progress. The discussion, on this motion was prolonged, and the House only rose a little before ten this morning, when the vote was carried on the voices. Mr. Fox intimated that his party was prepared in a similar way to contest every item on the estimates, until Ministers intimated their intentions as to a dissolution of the Assembly. Friday, Oct. 2. The House only sat four hours last night. The order of the day for going into committee of supply was postponed, on the motion of Mr. Hall. Mr. Reynolds — who, on the previous night, had used the expression, "Some members had been bought and sold," and whose words had been taken down — explained that he alluded to promises of adjustment made to the country party, which .party the Government had completely sold by withdrawing their proposals of adjustment. Mr. Stafford thereupon moved that it; was not necessary to proceed further with the matter. This, after a short discussion, was carried. The Ballot Bill was reported — 24 in its favor, 12 against. The Sturfc arrived this morning. The outpost at Manawapou has been abandoned, and Patea is almost in a state of siege. Titokowharu having re-crossed the Patea river, the Wanganui militia did not go to Waitotara. The friendly natives, instead, have occupied Arewa, on the Waitotara river. The mounted escort to Manawapou was attacked, and Trooper Smith shot. Every settler's house around has been burned. Mr. Booth hns arrived by the Sturt to consult with Ministers upon the present state of things. The Wanganui Magistrates have applied that a portion of the 18th may be stationed in the town.
